Day 2 - Wednesday 14th February

Happy Valentines Day Rach!!
So, it's day 2 and I'm happy to report that I am no longer unemployed, It's a great feeling!
So I arrived promptly @ the Hill-Rom Office in the midlands this morning, looking all dapper in my new T.M Lewin... nice! The day went pretty much as expected really, I was greeted upon arrival by the H.R manager, we spent a few minutes discussing the big move and how the plans were progressing. Following that I set about configuring my new Laptop (Avec Vista - EVALUATION PURPOSES for any ROM people reading) and began working through a number of emails waiting for me in my inbox.
VISTA NOTE: I really wanted to fit this in here, I'm so impressed with VISTA following 2 initial days of usage. Although I've not really had chance to delve under the hood in any great detail yet, the new user interface is fantastic (and I don't mean the power draining memory sucking Aero crap), I'm talking about the instant search facility access from the start menu. I've always been one of those folks who launches most things from the run command, now not only can I launch programs by punching in a few key letters, I can also search my entire HDD for files containing those key letters or words. To coin a phrase, it really does put everything at your finger tips!!! TOP JOB BILL!
One major down side to VISTA is that, at the moment, none of the VPN clients used by the ROM are supported .... so remote access isn't easy! I'll keep you posted on that one!
Anyway, I began working on a couple of outstanding SMS issues the ROM is currently experiencing, one of which appears to be down to faulty Management Points on many of the EMEA secondary sites, at the moment I suspect this may be down to problems with the IWAM_ user and computer accounts used by IIS, I'll keep you updated on how that works out. If anyone has any thoughts on that I'd appreciate your feedback.
So, I'm off to Milan tomorrow morning, the cab is scheduled to pick me up @ around 6:30 tomorrow morning for an early flight out of BHX. I think it's about 2.5 hours to Milan, where my man on the ground, Pietro Delfrati will be collecting me. Hopefully the next couple of days in Milan will include much Notes and BES training as well as some good coffee an even better Grapa!
Anyway dudes, time for me to sign out to get some much needed beauty sleep in prep for tomorrows off.
Keep it real and always wash your hands!
Mitch
