Disabling Directory Listing on Amazon Linux

The first step in disabling directory listing is to find the httpd.conf file.

On Amazon Linux, you’ll find it in /etc/httpd/conf

Open the file using your favourite text editor.

Locate a a line which looks a bit like this …

Options Indexes FollowSymLinks

Remove the Indexes keyword from the list of options.

Save the file

Restart Apache.

Now if you try and browse to the directory, you’ll get something like this.
